How to get paid on time, every time

Posted: 12th Mar 2020 by Hunter Gee Holroyd Business Advice General, Business Builder Forum

Unfortunately, due to the current restrictions in place and advice from the government with regard to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have taken the decision to cancel our next Business Builder Forum on 8 April.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we will ensure to keep you updated regarding future events, as and when the restrictions are lifted.

Why does it take so long to get paid and what can I do about it?

Late payment – or worse, non-payment – is the bane of start-ups and small firms. According to the latest BACS survey, small and medium-sized businesses are currently owed a staggering £35 billion in late payments, equal to an average of £45,000 per firm. Not surprisingly thousands of firms fail every year as a direct consequence of being paid late for work done or products or services provided. The good news is there are steps you can take to ensure that you get paid on time, every time. So, what can you do to ensure you get paid on time?

    • Clearly set your expectations
    • Make it easy to be paid
    • Credit check new customers
    • Encourage prompt payment
    • Have clear procedures
    • Build relationships with your customers and reward prompt payers
    • Don’t be afraid to take action

At our next Business Builder Forum, we delve into 17 proven ideas to help you get paid in full every time, by every single customer.
